Acer supply it together with the following Notebook Computers: Aspire 1600 Series (1640, 1640z and 1650z) Aspire 3000 Series (3050) Aspire 3100 Series (3100) Aspire 3500 Series (3500) Aspire 3600 Series (3630, 3640, 3650, 3660, 3680, 3690) Aspire 5000 Series (5050) Aspire 5100 Series (5100) Aspire 5500 Series (5540, 5560, 5570, 5580 and 5590) Aspire 5600 Series (5600, 5610, 5630, 5650, 5680) ...and probably others, too. Some of the directories have a driver with “Ver.4.10.40.0” in the name; ignore it! Those drivers are actually v4.2.2.7. Acer issued a v4.10.40.0 Broadcom and v4.2.2.7 Atheros driver at the same time for the same laptops. The person doing the admin transposed the driver-versions within the driver names. Although the internal EEPROM ID, version & date of many these drivers is identical, the drivers themselves are not, as sizes and modification date varies. v4.0.0.14001 drivers are specific to the specific Ambit model, and will not load other, similar WLAN models. All others contain generic EEPROM IDs, and will load virtually anything!
