Notes & Comments on the mfcs_A/Alcatel/Modems/SpeedTouch-516/v6/Firmware Directory:

This is BANT-J firmware, and is equally effective for:
  • ST-516-v6 (POTS or ISDN)
  • ST-536-v6 (POTS or ISDN)
  • ST-546-v6 (POTS or ISDN)

A note about r6 Firmware:
The following is true for all r6.1.4.6 & higher Firmware:

In their wisdom, Thomson has crippled the CLI in r6.1.4.6 & r6.1.4.7 Firmware. The so-called ‘Expert’ commands (an example is “debug exec cmd”) suffer a 300sec delay in r6.1.4.6 before they can be re-issued, and are disabled in r6.1.4.7. This was done by Thomson explicitly to throw a spanner into the works of de-bugging tools such as DMT.

Site Info, History & Page Stats

These pages are a LAMP-development of the original Modem-Help, UK site (most of the old HTML pages still exist, but havn’t been updated for quite some time). That site, in it’s turn, was a transfer from the first html site on free-pages at Freeserve (sadly, now gone). The current format allows superb search facilities, customisation by Registered members, plus is quick ‘n’ easy to update.

Diligently put together in the UK by Alex Kemp. All efforts have been taken to ensure the veracity of what is written - if you know of any errors or omissions then please let us know.
