The file ‘Technical Note.pdf’ (either directory) describes and gives the solution for a common problem that appears with Bluetooth under Windows XP: briefly, with the Microsoft Bluetooth Support Software loaded, a person tries to load an updated driver, but the USB adapter does not work (the icon on the task bar does not turn from red to white). The problem is if the BTW driver package is not digitally signed, in which case XP silently ignores it in favour of the pre-installed MS software. Hmm. The solution is to manually update from Device Manager. The .pdf gives screen shots of the whole process.
