Notes & Comments on the utilities/JTAG/Alcatel Directory:

Some methods have been discovered to backup the flash from various Alcatel/Thomson routers. This flash contains the entire operating system and software files that allow it to operate; obviously, if it becomes corrupt the router stops working. Restoring the flash from backup can restore operation.

It also happens that some companies supply Alcatel/Thomson routers that are locked to their network. Restoring a backup from an unlocked model also unlocks the router...

Be warned: soldering skills and courage are required.

These pages are a LAMP-development of the original Modem-Help, UK site (most of the old HTML pages still exist, but havn’t been updated for quite some time). That site, in it’s turn, was a transfer from the first html site on free-pages at Freeserve (sadly, now gone). The current format allows superb search facilities, customisation by Registered members, plus is quick ‘n’ easy to update.
