Notes & Comments on the /utilities/Router Diagnostics/DMT/v7/ Directory:

DMT Version 7 is designed to provide detailed diagnostics for the following family of routers:
    Alcatel/Thomson SpeedTouch 516
    Alcatel/Thomson SpeedTouch 536
    Alcatel/Thomson SpeedTouch 546
    Alcatel/Thomson SpeedTouch 585
    Alcatel/Thomson SpeedTouch 608
    Alcatel/Thomson SpeedTouch 706
    Alcatel/Thomson SpeedTouch 716
    Alcatel/Thomson SpeedTouch 780

In June 2006 a British ISP complained to Thomson about DMT. The ISP was getting so many support requests from folks using DMT, and wanting changes to their line because of what they had discovered, that the ISP asked Thomson to ‘fix it’.

UK Firmware r6.1.4.6 altered one important CLI command, and r6.1.4.7 removed it. Thus, UK firmware r6.1.4.3 is clean, but later UK firmware for this range of routers is deliberately crippled. International & other firmware is--at the time of writing (November 2007)--unaffected (ah, if only the previous sentence was true; ALL r6.1.4.6+ firmware has been crippled by Thomson; so sad).

Site Info, History & Page Stats

These pages are a LAMP-development of the original Modem-Help, UK site (most of the old HTML pages still exist, but havn’t been updated for quite some time). That site, in it’s turn, was a transfer from the first html site on free-pages at Freeserve (sadly, now gone). The current format allows superb search facilities, customisation by Registered members, plus is quick ‘n’ easy to update.
